You can enter a year or a complete date in dd / mm / yyyy format. To search by a specific date you must put the same date in From and To.

To search for a phrase (in Spanish/Portuguese), enclose words in quotes, e.g., "Miguel de Cervantes".

Enter one or more words in any field; the default operator linking terms is AND.

The wild card characters * and ? can be used to search for a root followed by any character string or words of uncertain spelling. Por ejemplo: 'ilustr*', recuperará las palabras ilustrador, ilustraciones, ilustrada, ilustrativo, etc.; y 'primiti?a' recuperará los términos primitiva y primitiua. No deben usarse estos caracteres como inicio de un término de búsqueda.
