Portada del libro impresoThe collaboration between the University of Salamanca and the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation has opened up a wide range of possibilities in recent years. The University of Salamanca and the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation have been directly working together over the years on the study and digital edition of a selection of authors from the Visigothic and Mozarabic periods, which form part, on the one hand, of the magnificent work presented in these pages and, on the other, of the Polygraphs project being carried out at the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation, with the FHL Virtual Libraries. Spanish Polymath Virtual Library.

The Ignacio Larramendi Foundation has a special interest in supporting the editions of authors (polygraphs) that, perhaps because of their smaller audience (as is the case of the Visigothic and Mozarabic writers), do not always find the interest (and therefore the budget) they need to be published and become accessible. In this sense, they are therefore available for various types of publishing, including digital publishing which, just because it is in digital format, must not fail to benefit from the most rigorous ecdotic analysis and the support of quality critical editions, such as this one, which is now being published.

The project that is currently being developed at the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation is based on the creation of a Polymath Virtual Library composed of encyclopaedic entries, digital structure and high visibility and accessibility on the Web of each of the authors who make up the selection using advanced computer techniques and a wide use of metadata schemas. The project, approached from a strictly contemporary point of view, consists of creating a true digital encyclopaedia of Hispanic, Portuguese, Brazilian and Latin American thinkers, located on the Internet and equipped, not with hyperlinks to third-party information sources, but with digital aggregates of the electronic information that exists all over the Internet. Thus, all these Visigothic and Mozarabic authors will have their own independent entry and will be able to be consulted together with the study prepared by Adelaida Andrés Sanz, David Paniagua Aguilar, José Carlos Martín Iglesias, Salvador Iranzo Abellán, always headed up by Professor Dr. Carmen Codoñer.

Logically, the project does not end here, but in the future it will be possible to find new discovered texts, documents that were already known about, but that were not critically edited, and even compilations of all kinds that allow us to have a clearer idea of life in Spain during the "dark" centuries of the Middle Ages, with the maximum reliability that the rigorous edition implies. All this without forgetting that visibility on the web (they will be visible from the Ignacio Larramendi Polymath Virtual Library) ensures, at least to a certain extent, the survival and even greater dissemination of these basic texts.
